Ambassador Faisal Tirmizi highlights global cooperation at UAE Year of Community 2025 panel
DUBAI: Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s top diplomat in the UAE, attended a Ramadan Suhoor at the Ismaili Centre Dubai this week.
The event, held under the banner of the UAE’s Year of Community 2025, brought together diplomats and representatives from various organisations to discuss global cooperation and inclusivity.
The evening’s highlight was a panel discussion titled “Building Bridges and Strengthening Global Communities in the UAE Year of Community 2025”, reflecting the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

Dialogue on inclusivity
Ambassador Tirmizi joined an esteemed panel featuring Samuel Kinyanjui, First Counsellor of the Republic of Kenya, and Aziz Merchant, President of the Ismaili Community in the UAE.
The discussion, moderated by Nadia Verjee, Executive Director of Expo City Dubai, explored the role of diverse communities in the UAE’s social and economic fabric.
Tirmizi underscored the Pakistani community’s contributions since the 1960s, particularly in sectors such as communication, banking, education, and infrastructure, highlighting their role in the country’s rapid growth.
He commended the UAE leadership’s initiative to designate 2025 as the Year of Community, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to fostering cross-cultural ties. He also praised the Pakistan Medical Centre under the Pakistan Association Dubai for its community healthcare services, which provide free medical care to patients of all nationalities.
Aziz Merchant echoed these sentiments, reiterating the Aga Khan Development Network’s (AKDN) dedication to humanitarian efforts. He emphasised that the AKDN’s work remains rooted in values of compassion, inclusivity, and volunteerism, aiming to improve lives irrespective of nationality, faith, or gender.
The event underscored the importance of cross-cultural dialogue and cooperation in building stronger global communities, reflecting the shared values of inclusivity and progress championed by the UAE.
